Description

Final installment of Legendary Week: Velekren Assailed (his previous version). The main antagonist of the Struggles of Iscathia block is forced to stay inside his Iridescent Tower due to the advancing forces that are coming to confront him, but he'll find power in his insanity and use it to channel spells more powerful than he could ever fathom (this is represented by the fact the set features Madness as one of its mechanics).

I like this version a lot more in comparison to the other, I'll say. However, I think that the big problem with him lies in his first ability. But before I refer to that, I'll talk about the mana cost.

Three-color hybrid is certainly an interesting way to cost it, as it allows for any two-color combination to be possible in whatever combination, such as GGBBB. What that can mean for that combinations is that it gives it a very potent and resilient planeswalker at a reasonable cost, and with Madness as one of the set's main mechanics, it really begins to encourage a graveyard centered play style. What this planeswalker allows you to do is get cards into a place you can easily access them, boost up your madness abilities, and give the planeswalker up to five loyalty counters, allowing for as soon as two turns to get its ultimate up and running, or just use the second ability in the same vein (even arguably better), and get whatever strong game-ending cards you discarded with the first ability onto the battlefield with little trouble.

I'm not quite sure if that's exactly what the case will be since I don't know what the rest of the set looks like, but these are just my first observations. As for changes, I suggest two things: make the +1 ability a 0 ability that gives Velekren 1 loyalty counter for the discarded card's colors. Second, change the -3 or -15 ability altogether. As it is, they seem far too similar for their own good, and their power levels seem very imbalanced (why use the ultimate if the -3 does the same thing even better than it does?).

I'm eager to see the rest of the set.
